Please read our joining instructions below before coming to fly with us.
We are very much looking forward to flying with you.
If you have any questions, feel free to email us or phone +44 1243 913916.
In advance of your course:
-
We require a £200 deposit in order to book your course date. Please call us on +44 1243 913916 and we can take payment over the phone, or email us on info@ultimatehigh.co.uk. The balancing payment for the course is payable on arrival on the first day.
-
Complete our student background form from here.
-
Email over scans or photos of the following 3 documents so that we do not have to take copies of them: licence, medical and passport/ID.
-
Pre-course reading – it is important to read and familiarise yourself with AUPRTA Rev 3 (ICAO). This can be found here or downloaded as an app to your iPad from here.
What to wear/bring:
-
Please arrive for 9.00am on the first day of your course.
-
Please bring the following 4 documents with you: licence, medical, logbook and passport/ID.
-
Food & Drink - Please ensure that you are well rested and have a light breakfast before arriving as we do not recommend flying on an empty stomach. The Aerodrome Cafe (next to our office) is open, but you may wish to bring your own lunch and refreshments each day..
-
Clothing – please wear casual clothes and light footwear with flexible soles – trainers (not flying boots) are ideal.
Most courses start on a Monday and last 2-3 days; there is usually the option to carry on later in the week if (for example) we are delayed by weather. We are closed on Sundays and bank holiday weekends.
Local Transport to and from Goodwood Aerodrome:
-
Please be aware that it is NOT SAFE or suitable to walk to the Aerodrome from any accommodation as all the roads in the area are narrow country lanes without pavements. There are also no buses. Therefore, you will either need to use taxis or a rental car as transport (if you do not have your own car).
-
Goodwood Aerodrome is the same location as the Goodwood Motor Circuit. Postcode PO18 0PH, the nearest town is Chichester. We are 60 miles south of London, between Brighton and Southampton. The Aerodrome entrance is on Claypit Lane. Our location is accurate on Google Maps and full directions can be found here.
Travelling from Overseas to Goodwood:
-
Southampton Airport is 35 miles away and should take around 40 minutes by car, although if you are travelling in the rush hour, congestion on the M27 can cause it to take much longer than this.
-
London Gatwick Airport is 47 miles away (approx 1 hour by car and less affected by rush hour traffic).
-
Both Southampton and Gatwick Airports have good train connections to Chichester. There are also direct trains from London Victoria which take around 1.5 hours. Chichester railway station is a 10-15 minute taxi ride from the Aerodrome.
Accommodation - Goodwood Aerodrome - PO18 0PH:
-
There is a lot of choice in the local area (see map below), but places can get very booked up, particularly during the summer. It also depends on what your budget is and whether you prefer to be in the countryside or in town (Chichester, about 2 miles away).
-
There are plenty of airbnb in and around Chichester.
-
The 2 nearest hotels are the Goodwood Hotel and the Chichester Park Hotel. Please note that both hotels are around 1.5 miles away from the Aerodrome and the narrow roads are not suitable for pedestrians as there are no pavements.
-
There is a Premier Inn and Travelodge in Chichester. Another Travelodge is in Fontwell (towards Arundel).
-
During the winter months (October-March inclusive), very occasionally we operate from Solent Airport and not Goodwood. We will let you know if this is the case.
Weather:
The Operations Manager or Staff Instructor will make a final weather decision regarding the weather. We normally require the following weather minima:
-
Crosswind max gust 25 kts
-
Cloudbase 4000' - can generally be lower if suitable gaps up to 4000' available, Viz>3km
